Patron Saint of Moravia
The Roman Catholic church now celebrates this day as Saints Cyril and Methodius Day. Brothers who were philosophers and language scholars, they are best known for developing the cyrillic alphabet. They were continuously brought up on heresy charges because the other priests couldn’t read what they were saying, but the common folk caught on right away. These two are widely attributed with the spread of Christianity throughout Eastern Europe.
